Trouble Sleeping? Try The Alphabet Game

control messages Nov 10, 2011

I sometimes have trouble falling asleep because I can't get my mind to shut off, and I've come up with a sure-fire way to get me right to sleep: what I call The Alphabet Game. I come up with a category and then have to name something within that category for every letter of the alphabet.

For instance Airlines (surprise): Air France, British Airways, Continental, Delta, Emirates, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...........  No matter what category, I'm almost always asleep around the letter E.

I've shared this technique with many of my speaking audiences and wanted to share it with you as well. For your convenience I've come up with a sample list of categories (better book mark this page for sleepless nights!), but I'd love to add to it as I've been doing this a long time and need some new ideas. What category ideas do you have?

Before you get to the list, if you'd like some extra help with your sleep, I've pulled together the best of what science has to say about getting good sleep - and it has 2 tool kits in it! Click here to get 14 Proven (and Simple) Ways to Improve Your Sleep.
